    Default Wheel Advice plz

    Hi guys,

Could do with some advice choosing the right size wheel.

    Currently 17" with 215x50x17 fitted. ( standard )

Want to plan a budget for changing them this yr but want some advice on the best size. I don't want to buy a set of wheels then suffer a hard ride eg changing to a 20" set with rubber bands for tyres.

Just wondering what you guys have fitted and what change it made to the ride.

    cheers

I recently went from 215/50/17 to 225/45/18 - great ride.

I guess you haven't noticed the ride has gotten any harder then?

225/45 18? or 225/40 18? If 225/45 so you have any issue with rubbing and are you aware the speedo is now out

I gave my standard SRI with standard 17" wheels and tyres to our lass, now running an XP2 with the 18" 225/45 tyres,.. yes it is a harsher ride, but not bad in any way, steering is improved but would not fancy upping to 19"s

You can google for a tyre rolling radius converter. This will allow you to compare your normal rolling radius and your new proposed one. The one I had seen also calculated the difference and advised your true speed against your recorded spped.

Yeah I'm aware it's going to change the speedo a lil bit, not too sure what you're trying to say about the rubbing?? I'm guessing don't go any wider than 225 or I'll suffer rubbing on the wheel arch?

Link below gives a "visual" rep of the tyre size, but it also gives the actual dimensions. So a 215/50/17 sidewall is 10.75cm and a 225/45/18 sidewall is 10.13 cm, so the sidewall is only 0.62 down, wouldn't have thought would make the ride that much harder.

The ride is a little firmer but that is a good thing it is not harsh or hard just a little firmer.
