Thumbs down Very sad day tomorrow

Tomorrow at 5.40pm I'm doing one of the hardest things I've had to ever do and I'm dreading it. My best friend our dog Ellie the black labrador is 12 and a half has to leave us to run in the big field in the sky. We got confirmed with the vet after scans, blood tests and xray that she has tumours on her liver spleen and bowel. She was fine 4 weeks ago so this was devistating news for our family. She is very much part of our family and she has listened to all my troubles and seen me cry and never judged me once. She always had a happy face for anyone she met. Its hit us very hard especially my 11 year old daughter as they've grown up together. She was not in any pain so we took her home for two days to spoil her even more and share our last moments with all who love her, and maybee share my biscuits as well. Breaks my heart and Ive cried so many tears for her but I can't let her suffer. We will share our last ride as we have before in the vectra going over to my mums to say bye. Then me my wife and daughter are walking into the vets while she still can to be with her and comfort her in her last moments. Im so so upset to loose my best friend but as they say. If you love something you have to let it go.

As above - I've been there many many times over the years and it never gets any easier -I do feel for you and your family - and as already said people that do not own dogs can not appreciate the pain of the loss. Just bear in mind that you are doing the kindest thing for Ellie - as the illness progressed she would only suffer and her quality of life would be reduced. I'll be looking at my watch at 5.40 and thinking about you. Good Luck

Also you have to remember that a dogs age of eleven is clocking on for 80 in human terms - so that isn't a bad innings - no consolation at all I know but may help a little.
My oldest Border Terrier, Billy, is 14 now and as fit as a fiddle, so thinking about it he is around 98 in human terms
