Default Rubbish Light in the Dark!!!

Typical pre-facelift Headlights, hardly any light projected onto the road in front!

Your suggestions guys, better bulbs or A N OTHER solution?

    Please assist.

    Thanks.

Suggest you use the 'search' facility - this is a subject that's been done to death on here over the years!

    Usual things to do are:

    1) Adjust the beam height upwards as it's usually way too low. There's a Howto for this - it's a 10 minute job.
    2) Fit brighter bulbs. Obviously what's best changes over time as new bulbs come out. Something like Nightbreakers usually do the trick.
    3) Fit HIDs - but this is still a grey area legally, so it's up to you if you really can't live with the standard setup.

For me, raising the beam and fitting Halfords super-duper-bright bulbs (they were on offer) did the trick. I've known better dipped beams (ironically on my 23 year old Renault 5s), but I've also known worse on other modern cars.

    Have you tried Duncan's mod?

It will improve things slightly, but ultimately HIDs is the way to go (mind passed another MOT just last week with HIDs fitted). I've tried brighter bulbs, but generally they're worked harder and only have short lives.

Not keen on doing that as when I did it on the B, it went a bit pete-tong and I was being flashed all the time!

Go to your local MOT station and ask them to adjust to the highest legal level. Most will do it for free or for beer money
