    Default EGR VALVE error P0400

    hiya everyone my signum keeps dieing on me just completely shuts down and pluged it in and got a MAF error and EGR valve have cleaned bout of them and still the EGR valve error keeps coming up any idea cheers

    Is the egr valve moving freely?

    Had this fault in a 1.9 Zafira today an the spring in egr was jammed closed with all the crud

    To a point it is moving freely doesnt seem to close compelely tho and i cleaned it as best as i could just wouldnt close shut

    well considering it will not close indicates it needs replacing

    i understand that but there doesnt seem like a not pressure on the spring to return it to close anyway normaly do thy slam closes with out any gaps at all due to mine has a mm or 2 in it cheers

    they seal shut until you hit a certain engine speed when it opens. Car will not run correctly at low speeds if the valve does not close fully

    thank you for your reply and oh right ok so that could be what would be making my car smoke aswell then and have just been told i would be able to by pass it and if so would there be any further problems by doing so thank you

    Yes you can bypass it by unplugging it but it will show up a fault light. Problem is tho yours is not shutting correctly so unplugging it will not help. You can get it mapped out but you will still have the same problem until you can get it to close or put a blanking plate in

    if i put a blanking plate in can it cause any damage its self cheers
