RAC via Tesco clubcard vouchers works for us, never had any issue with them when needed
im with AA have been since 2001 and ive just added the other bit where you pay the 1st £35 if your car breaks down and they will pay the rest up to £500 which isnt too bad so all in all im coverd for £130 for the year
Let's look at this objectively (otherwise everyone recommends whomever they're currently with and the OP is none the wiser).
There are 3 things to consider:
1) Price, including any cashback offers or loyalty card deals etc.
2) How quickly do they come out when you call them? (Unless you're in a real hurry, this is the least important bit - does waiting another 20 minutes matter that much?)
3) When they come out to you, how much knowledge does the man have and what tools and equipment does he have with him? This last point is where Green Flag and Brittania etc fall short. They send out local tow truck drivers who have a contract with Green Flag or whomever you paid. Their day job, which is to tow cars, doesn't provide them with any experience of fixing cars, and Green Flag don't pay for any training when the towing company signs up to be their agent. The tow driver will have a screw driver and a spanner with him, and that's about it. He is well equipped to tow your car, because unlike AA/RAC vans, he came in a proper tow truck. But when he's dropped you and your car at home or the garage of your choice, your car is still broken and still needs to be fixed. The AA or RAC patrols have a LOT more training, they have a van full of tools, they have laptops to connect to your car's OBD II port to diagnose any fault codes, and if they get stuck they can phone base and speak to even more knowledgeable colleagues whose job is to assist the patrols. The AA/RAC want to fix your car there and then, because it will cost them more to tow the car than fix it. The Green Flag driver will make more money by billing Green Flag for a tow job rather than fixing it, even if he could fix it with just a screwdriver.
