Eek Just done a credit check,

Right just done a credit check and i have quite a fair record BUT i have noticed it says i have 40 credit searches in the last 12 months, how i asked well il tell you, insurance quotes, theres virtual every car insurance company on there which for some reason has come up as a credit check, if that is affecting my credit then im seriously going to be ****ed off.

I didnt think an insurance quote would show as a credit search.

No, it won't make any difference (no difference to score)
What makes a difference are completed transactions and payments recorded
So if you make 1000 quote enquries and complete 1 transaction, only that specific transaction affects the score

It does indeed have an effect - it makes it look like you're constantly searching for new lines of credit.

I've never had any such issue
I usually only carry out about 12 such quotes that appear on my credit record, ie those that you complete with personal details

    Default doesnt matter

I've noticed this ebfore and spoke to exprian about it. Theres 2 different form sof record on your file one is a proper credit check in terms of an application for credit.
Checks for insurance etc where no application is made show as a footprint but wont lower your credit scroe.

Thats what they told me anyway

It does have an effect on your score. I put a post up about this last year. What I wanted to know was that even though I pay my insurance in full and have done so for the past 3 years they still do a credit check! Why?
