    Default xenon headlights

the othere day i noticed my headlight was out and i had the warning light on saying check right low beam. So i thought i would just jump down the local car parts shop and buy a bulb .When i got there i had a look in the manual and read that i would have to go to the dealers for this kind of light . I went in to ask anyway and they told me i would have to go to the dealers and be ready for a fright he said the newer models come in at around £120 and i would get mine for around £90 i have a 52 plate sri.Is this a wind up or is this how much it is to fix a bulb.

The Xenon bulbs are very expensive. The numbers you quote sound about right from what others have said. It's not just a normal bulb.

Do us a favour bud and keep us updated on this........
Surely can't be that much for a bulb???????
If so best start looking for aftermarket options !!!!

They really are that expensive. The offside headlamp of my Omega went about a year ago and the bulb and about £20 worth of labour set me back about £120 - and that was mate's rates (i.e. definitely not VX!)! The bulb alone was about £100. VX wanted over £120!

You could buy pairs of xenon HID bulbs on eBay for about £50-60 - buy it now - at that time. Haven't looked since. I always mean to get some as spares.

The easiest way to tell if you have gas discharge (xenon) lights is the bumper will have the headlamp wash jets on. If you have got them then the best place for the replcement bulbs will be www.hids4u.co.uk a lot cheaper than VX.

As per leeds vectra the previous post may help (also info from Mark on what type)

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12813

I think it is correct to say that if you have Xenons you won't have the level adjustment button next to the light switch.

I know i sound a cheapskate but i had a pair of 'blue' effect headlight bulbs in my Focus and to be honest for £15 a pair they weren't half bad. Any good on my 2004 Vectra 2.2 SRi or not? They're not them Xenon one's on mine are they?

A 52 plate SRi with Xenons?.

As far as I know only GSi's and possibly Elite's had Xenons as "standard" factory fit, so either they were an option specified by the first owner when new or they are "retro fit".

On one hand, your lucky to have them on an SRi, on the other as you have found out, they are pricey to replace when they go pop!!!.

Just noticed as well, your just round the corner from me in your part of the world, I'm in Bonnybridge m8.

Swatty, your correct. Vec-C's with factory fitted Xenons/HID's dont have the headlamp beam height adjustment control, they are self levelling so dont need it.

i have just recently replaced headlight control unit & front near side leveling sensor on my 03 elite took 2 mounths to them leveling again

thought this may be hand for when you get a bulb

also people with afl lights cannot replace indicator bulbs (new headlight i would say , there is no access)
