    Default Parallel parking

Hi, I've got a question that needs answering, I live on a 40mph speed limit 4 lane (2 lanes in each direction) A road divided by a central reservation with no barrier , out side my house is a lay by for parking can I legally parallel park my car.

Could do with a experienced driver helpfully driving instructor or something of that nature

If they're isn't room to pull In forwards then why not. Same as reversing into your drive so you don't have to reverse onto a main road

and tbh I think you've answered you own question. As long as there is no signs saying you cant park overnight etc, I cant see how you couldnt.

If its a dual carriageway then i dont think you can legally reverse on it into the layby. Is there not a highway code online you can check?

Thanks for your replies, that's what I was thinking, but like anything that is to do with a government agency it contradicts its self.
A duel carriageway is defined as "a highway divided down the middle by a barrier that separates traffic going in different directions" as there is no barrier is it still a dual carriageway?
To complicate things it says "
Do not reverse from a side road into a main road. When using a driveway, reverse in and drive out if you can"

The reason I asked the question is I have applied for a dropped curb so I can put in a drive, however the local council have rejected it "saying there is adequate parking for 10 vehicles adjacent to the property", how ever if it is illegal, then I have grounds to appeal as there wouldn't be adequate parking for the amount of properties, as you would need to allow more room per car in order to park legally.

DasArab, please feel free to proof read my post.
