Default 2003 2.0 DTI Tuning On a Budget?

    Hi all,

Is there anything i can do to improve my 2.0 DTI, give it a bit more oomph?
Very impressed with the economy in general, its just a bit gutless if im honest.
I know i cant have it both ways (shame lol) but a bit more poke wouldnt go amiss
I've heard of the Tuning Boxes but they are a bit expensive for me at the moment, is there anything cheapish i can do?
Bashing out the insides of the Cat i've heard can be a big improvement, and ive read of some people shortening the actuator bar on the turbo for a little more boost but im not keen on messing about with that without a boost gauge
    Any more suggestions?
    Cheers, Ade.

mine was a bit flat when I bought it , stripped & cleaned the inlet manifold , EGR valve etc.
made sure the boost sensor was clean , that sort of thing & it now feels a lot better .
next step is to remove the cat from mine .

Cleaning the Inlet manifold is worth it.
Partially blocking the EGR is also a good move.
Both if the above are in the How 2's on here.
Other things are fit a K&N (or similar) airfilter, do the airfilter mod (remove the half round plastic bit in the bottom of the airfilter box, again in the How 2's), use a small amount (200ml) of 2 stroke in each 1/2 tank of diesel, and remove the cat from the exhaust.
Normal oil/filter change using semi-synth oil every 6 months.
DONT drive like a granny going to church, the engine occasionally needs to be thrashed down the motorway in 4th, especially when on the way to an MOT test, it helps clear the soot out.
All this should cost less than £100.
And it all helps to free the limited BHP available.
