    Default Very odd noise

January this year I had a new DMF & clutch fitted to the car and have covered approx 8k since then.

Over the past few weeks I have noted that when the car is started from warm \ hot with the clutch in there is a noise but starting from cold nothing.

Today, I called off at my parents after driving 35miles from work. Went back out to start the car and there was a very loud clattering noise coming from the car, it eventually cut out. Started the car up again and it was fine.

There are no fault codes but I don't believe it's anything with the engine \ electrics.

It sounds to me like the DMF is falling apart again

its funny you say that but sometimes the clutch pedel feels different between each journey, I thought that this was just my imagination.

I'm not sure about thrust bearing, just had a look at the receipt and it just says "Clutch unit & flywheel"

Are these symptoms related to a thrust bearing? It's worring that the car made this clattering sound and then cut out after starting, while it was clattering the car semt to be struggle to idle.

I've done a bit of reading and some people mention timing belt but since this the car runs fine, pulls like a train, no smoke etc. just the usual noise can be heard when starting from warm which i think is linked somehow.

    Thanks

thanks for the pointers Vectra ste, I'm going to go back to where the clutch was done tomorrow with it and let them have a look.

the strange thing is that this noise only occurs when the car has been run and is up to temp and only when started...
