Default Diesel injector seals failed after 18 months!!!

    Hi,

Have been told by VX that my injector seals need replacing and this is what caused the Veccy (05 2.0dti) to not start 2 mornings ago. Green Flag came out and ended up squirting some carb cleaner into the airflow meter after disconnecting it from the air intake duct. Started fine afterwoods and has done ever since.

I only had these seals replaced (or so I was told as there was oil in the fuel line) 18 months ago when I had the diesel pump replaced. Surely these should last longer, especially as I have been told it's about a 5 hour job.

Should I have any reason to question the diagnosis?

Any suggestions and tips greatly appreciated.

Who did the seals 18 months ago (were they definitely done) ?

Is there oil present in the fuel filter/housing ?

Have the fuel filter seals been replaced ?

Have the injector spill pipes (small braided/rubber pipes) been replaced ?

All the above can leak air into the fuel system, usually overnight, causing bad/non starting issues.

It was done at the same dealer, they are going to look into it.

Does the addition of 2 stroke oil in the fuel system perish the seals more rapidly?

In addition to the injector seals - quoted £515, I have also been told that the EGR valve needs replacing at £503 ??????

Do these prices sound about right?

Unsure about the seals, but the egr valve is about £90 from VX and takes 15mins to change
