    Unhappy 1.9CDTI (120) Hesitating / Miss Fire

    Hi all,

Just had an EGR valve replaced on my SRI 1.9CDTI 120 and ever since it has developed a sort of hesitation when warm and between 2k-3k revs.

I took it into the local Vauxhall garage today and they have stated it is a carbon build up on the valves and will cost over £800 to fix!!!

I have read on this forum that you can remove the EGR valve and block it and then get the engine remapped but when I asked at the dealer if this would fix the problem I was told the car was "too clever" and this wouldn't work.

Anyone got any suggestions as really don't want to spend this sort of money.

    Thanks.
    Pete.

    Hi
You can get the EGR blocked and mapped out, there are many threads on here about the DPF and EGR valve and many members have already done this. There is a company in Keighley who can do it, http://www.masperformance.co.uk/, they quoted me £350 to blank and map out EGR and remove my DPF, maybe worth giving them a call, but you should also be able to find threds about it.

You could also try a product called BG244 to clean some of the carbon out, It was recommended to me, so I have already done it on mine, although I'm having no problems at mo.

Do a trial EGR blank. Very simply, disconnect the electrical connector (if the 120 has one) then take the car for a test drive (eml and spanner lights will follow but these will clear after a period of normal connected EGR driving resumes or clear the codes with a code reader).

If that solves your problems then you have a choice, either leave it disconnected (costing you nothing) or blank and get it remapped out. In this scenario, I would take the former option for sure.

It could also be an air leak introduced when the EGR was fitted.
