    Question 2.0dti tuning box??

    evening all
bought myself a 2004 2.0dti vectra C, as soon as i bought it i took her straight over to get remapped.
to my absolute horror i was told it cant be remapped!!!
so i ave heard bits and pieces about a tuning box for them but dont know anyone who has one on there veccy C 2.0dti.
Are they really easy to fit as i heard they have to be wired into the loom and not a simple plug fit.is there much of a difference in power and torque?what is the most power i could expect out of a tuning box?? is it worth while getting one???????????
    cheers

Need a VP44 tuning box off the top of my head. Some suppliers can do a look.

The 2.0DTi wasn't the best engine though Not the most tunable either...

yea vp44 is the box, has to be wired into the loom but dont know how easy it is to do
mate of mine that does remaping, tuning boxes etc... says that he got a software update and the 2.0dti vectra c is on it but he don't know if it'll get past the hybrid ecu, says he done a 2.0t astra wi a hybrid ecu and it worked so i'll have to see if it works

Pointless using a hybrid aftermarket ECU on a 2.0 DTi if you ask.

After my experiences with the 2.0DTI engine I would let it chug along at it's own pace. It's quite happy doing this, I don't think it would take kindly to being tuned too much, the air intake hoses etc do a good job at blowing them selves off under standard tune !

Don't get me wrong, I found it to be a good engine for economic cruising on the motorways and I think that was the main objective when it was designed. High performance and tunability was way down on the agenda

well a full stainless from the turbo down won't do her any harm so have to save the penny's for that, i know its not the best engine for tuning but wouldn't mind a few more donkeys to pull her along

Reading my post again, it may have come across abit harsh !, sorry if it did it wasn't meant to !

My 2.0 DTI was a good work horse and I was often doing 800/1000 miles a week with mid 50's MPG. I think the tuning potential is rather less than the more moden common rail diesels but I was often surprised by the mid range power.

I could go for a drive around wales on a sunday afternoon and never change gear, it would go up any hill without changing down LOL

It did have some probs though and perhaps it's a little bit delicate.

There is not an engine on the planet that can't be tuned. Yes, it is undoubtedly easier to get more power from the 1.9s (up to a certain point) although I personally wouldn't call turning the fuel pressure up tuning. Your 2.0 DTi in a high state of tune will in fact be able to produce slightly more power than a tuned 1.9 due to its increased displacement.

There is plenty that can be done to the DTi engines. I've been speaking to Rheinhessen chip tuning this week and they tell me that they'll remap my 2.2 to 164bhp and 350Nm. You're right when you say a stainless exhaust from the turbo back will liberate quite a few horses. With a less restrictive cat, you're probably looking at 15-20 bhp from this alone.

Next, you could go for a hybrid turbo and a bigger intercooler with mapping and injectors to suit. There is absolutely no reason why the 2.0DTi engine wouldn't be able to see the high side of 230bhp and the 2.2DTi more still if you have the time and money to spend on them. Admittedly, quite a lot of money.

Fit uprated hoses too, the intake pipe from the intercooler used to blow off mine for fun LOL.

I like the idea of a better turbo as I found the lag on the 2.0 to be a pain at times, maybe an after market one would be better and make it more driveable.
