    Default Carbon Fibre Bonnets

I've had Vanessa mkIV (the 2006 Vectra C 2.0T SRI NAV) 6months now and paid off the finance, so started to put a plan together for mods. On order is the rear bumper and full custom Mongoose Exhaust system. The next step is bonnet...

I want Genuine Carbon Fibre, and as we know there are no full bonnets pre-made for veccy C facelift. I've gone to the same people that manufacture the panels for lotus/ariel atom/etc because I've heard horror stories about people buying cheap material and watching it loose colour/flex/disintegrate with time!

This requires the initial design and mould paying for, before buying the first bonnet. It's going to cost me ~£1500 in total (which I'm considering?) but the only way I can justify it, is if there are others out there that would want an exact replica...

The reason I would be able to justify this is if having bought the rights to the mould + design, I would recover some of my initial investment by selling copies to club members and making a little back each sale! I have no wish to set up a shop - I just want to have my bonnet - and perhaps offer something back to the club!!!

This is the theme I would go for - ignore the BMW belonging to the bonnet and try to picture this on the vectra. I like the german power bulge with two simple vents either side. The mould would be cast from my vauxhall bonnet so that fitment will be 'like a glove!'

I would be open to design suggestions to a degree, and I would be selling these bumpers for:
    ~£300 for high grade fibreglass
~£550 for exposed weave carbon fibre
(prices to be confirmed once mould is finished)

bit nervous nobody's picked this up yet. <bump>

even some negative feedback would be appreciated - I wasn't sure whether people were prepared to pay for a good hood?

The idea i like yes.. the cost would be a little tricky to hide from 'she who must be obeyed'.. but with a final and deffo price on i could possibly save

I like the thought of a carbon fibre bonnet. Only thing for me would be that it looks exactly the same as the standard bonnet so I could paint it the same colour as my car.

Perhaps I wasn't clear (my fault) the only reason for picturing the BMW was to give people a taste for the detail on the bonnet. Ie the bonnet would be made from a vauxhall shape - but with a raised 'power bulge' in the centre and vents either side. The material choices were mentioned above (fiberglass as a cheaper bonnet or GENUINE exposed weave carbon fibre). Either could be painted to match car. I would probably paint part of the bonnet as I would want people to be able to see my investment, but that's just me!

As I say, all I'm after is testing peoples interest (I'm not expecting to hold anyone to purchase!)
