I'm an advocate of 'Bangernomics' that is old cars with plenty of life, brought for little more than scrap value.

Previous cars in date of ownership order (some overlap with dates owned):
2005 MG-ZT CDTi - bought for £450 kept for 2 years.
2002 Sabb 9-5 TDi - bought for £460 kept for 3 years
2003 Nissan Primera - bought for £310 kept for 1 year
1998 BMW 318i - brought for £700 kept for 2 years
2003 Nissan X-Trail - bought for £4100 kept for 8 years

Before this was a string of company cars but also have had Mk1 Astra and Cavalier.

I won't go back further other to say my first car in 1979 was a 1964 Reliant Regal (driven on a motor bike license) bought for £50 and sold a year later for the same money!

I have always been a long term car owner - well the Vauxhalls have been keepers for 15 years plus.

1 - Toyota Corolla 1300 DX saloon - 1980 (V plate) KE70.
In a sexy Sahara Beige with chocolate brown vinyl roof.
Hmmm - nice !!
Owned from 1989 to 1991.
Part ex'd this for car No 2.

2 - Austin Maestro 1300 L - 1986 (C plate)
In bright red, with plastic bumpers and retro fitted econometer.
Owned from 1991 to 1995.
Part ex'd for car No 4.

3 - Vauxhall Cavalier mk2 1300 base - 1987 (D plate).
Owned by the missus from 1989 until 1995,
Owned by me until 2009.
Sorned from 2003 and scrapped due to rust in 2009.
Still my favourite car ever - the 13S engine was phenominal.

4 - Vauxhall Cavalier mk3 1800 LSi - 1994 (M plate).
Owned by the missus from 1995 until 2005.
Owned by me ever since.
Converted to C20NE in 2012.
Now at 276,000 miles and a regular visitor to VauxFest.

The Cav in 2019.




The wife owns the 2005 Vectra-C Energy 1.9cdti 150. (05 plate).
But we both still run the same car.
We all know what an Olympic Blue Vectra looks like.
