I brought my vectra c estate back in feb 2012 from a used car dealer. It was sold with 3 months parts and labour warranty.
Now it started playing up a little, as in the eml would occasionally flicker, then it started coming on and staying on, putting the car into limp mode.
I contacted the dealer i brought the car from within the 3 months warranty period, whereby it was sent to a small local garage for diagnostics... Resulting in them finding a couple of logged faults, one of them being related to low fuel pressure, all the faults were cleared and basically the garage passed on the low fuel pressure info to the car dealer resulting in the car dealer trying to fob me off, telling me to get back in touch with them when the light comes on and stays on more often?!
Anyway driving it back i got the light back on, so went straight to my local vaux dealer and got it booked in, it's been in twice with them for diagnostic sessions since and there turns out there's a fair amount wrong.
Firstly there's a fuelling issue, that being down to an injector or the fuel pump
Then there's vibrations from the flywheel - it sounds like the cars on it's last legs literally!
Anyway the be all and end all is; vauxhall don't know how much it's going to cost to put right until they actually do it and have said best case scenario it's looking at 1800 pre vat, worst case it's looking 4500 pre vat...
Turns out a fuel pump on the newer diesel v6's are 2100
Anyway the dealer i brought the car off doesn't actually have a warranty package set up in a sense, it's not like they claim off a warranty company and they pay it. Basically the used car dealer decides whether he pays for it or not? And obviously he's refusing.
He's offered we go 50-50 on the repair costs!
He'll have the car back and give me less than i paid for it.
Or i can trade it in for what i paid for it against any other car they are selling...
So basically i want my money back, all of it, where do i stand? I paid 5800 for the car minus 6 months road tax being 134.75, so i want my 5665.25 that i paid for it.
He's saying that his 5000 offer is fair and the difference is for the usage of the car over my ownership, but how i see it is like this, if i buy a tv from tesco and it develops a fault within it's 12months warranty period, if i return it, they're not gonna turn round and say unfortunately from your 2 months worth of usage we can only refund you part of the price you've paid!!!!! No they'll refund exactly what you paid if that is what you want...
