    Default tapping from rear caliper/brakes

    Hi all

I have got an anoying tapping coming from the rear caliper area.

    I have a 1.9cdti sri 2005 vectra

This first appeared only on the nearside rear, it is like a tapping which gets louder when turning and went when i had been traveling for a few miles although not always, pads were low so i changed the pads both sides on removing the near side the caliper would not wind in i had to take it to my local garage to use thier equipment to wind it back in, this worked for a short while but it came back after a few days, i decided to change discs all round and again new pads all round that came with the disc set as well as a replacement caliper from my local scrap yard for the nearside which wound in with ease, i will point out out the offside caliper was fine and wound in no problem, i bled both sides before lowering the car.

This time all was well for about two months before the tapping came back but this time on the offside only slight tapping which goes after a few miles but is more pronounced when cornering (left hand turn) sometimes i can hear a slight clank from the rear brakes like the pads making contact with the disc then applying? (the only word i can think to describe) when applying.

Has anyone got any ideas, is there a specific way the handbrake is set up, is there somthing re the spring that goes on the caliper or a specific way to bleed the brakes?

    All help appreciated

    Simon

Yes they are on but can never fathom out how they actually do anything.

They do work you will know when they aren't on.

I would guess the disks may be warped but you mention they are only a couple of months old, Maybe try jacking the car up on the offending corner and manually spinning the wheel?
