Default Advice and Opinion's please - HU change

Hi all, I'm sure this is a question that has been asked before in various thread's but I wanted some considered opinion with all options included.

I have an 07 SRI with a CD 30 installed.

Having had a USB and Aux in on my last car I'm starting to get fed up with all the CD changes. So I was considering changing my HU. Although I have my first son/daughter due in September so I have set a budget of £200-£300 all in.

I have considered the following options:

    Itrip
By far and away the cheapest option of £20 - £30, however I had one of these before, and they become so fidly they end up redundant on most journey's, or has technology moved on so much that it is worth reconsidering. Means I will also obviously keep the CD30. However, I did fancy changing my display to colour one found on the CD70.

    Stick with my aftermarket JVC
I still have this single-din HU from my previous car. My only problem with this is I can never seem to get the stalk controls to work with any of my previous car's: 99 Clio, 99 Megane, 01 Focus, 07 Punto, so now that i've used them for the past 6 months I might miss these. Or has anyone been able to get their stalk controls working on an aftermarket HU? Cost apx £100 from what I can see for all harness' and facia adapter's

    Upgrade to a CD70
The main but unfortunately only benefit I can see from this is having a coloured display. As far as I understand, this unit doesn't have an aux in or anything either!
    Apx cost £200-300 2nd hand

Upgrade to Double din aftermarket unit
Same draw back here as with the JVC re stalk control's. Aside from that everything else seems to be for the best. However what i'm not sure is if I can still upgrade my display to a coulour version!
This is by far the most expensive option but I have seen decent units for around the £200 mark, so after harness and adapters I think I could still squeeze into my £300 budget!

As you can see I've been round every option and can't settle on anything to the point were i'm even cpnfused on some things.

Any help and advice is much appreciated.

    Thanks

i had this dilemma too buddy coz i had the cd 30 and wanted the mp3's to play in mine.

so...........i bought the jvc single din mp3 / dab unit and the connects2 for the seering wheel controls - through time the steering wheel controls failed.............then i bought a double din dvd / mp3 / freeview / bluetooth etc with touch screen.....couldnt get used to it, so i opted for the cd 70 navi and i added this

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-O...item3a70fb59c7

i wouldnt get rid of the cd 70 navi now....theres no going back to the aftermarket stuff for me.

thanks for the opinion fella. TBH I think I am leaning more towards the CD70. I've been looking out for a late 07 one but they are like hens teeth. Does the DAB Unit have an USB interface or anything or is it purely for the Digital?

Thanks for the advice guys. I think i'm going to go with the CD70 set-up. I think this will be best as it will keep the car looking market fresh. I will decide later then if I plump for getting the aux in activated or just go down the route of getting a Parrot fitted MKI fitted.

    Cheers for the advice though.

Look on the bright side with these options... As a full can bus car you can opt for the CD70 or CD40 or event the CD30mp3 unit...

but as my car is half can I can go CDR2005 (which is powered by steam) or an aftermarket unit only

I currently have a CDC40 with DAB and GID.
The DAB unit is seperate and can only be used with a CDC40, and is also 'married' to the Head Unit, similar to the way the GID is.
The 6 disk CD changer works well, but it is a little fragile.

An aftermarket unit worth looking at is:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320811050142

Aux -in can be added to a CD70:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330746481175
    or
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330753059833

The DAB unit mentioned by RBH seems a good idea if you want DAB, but note the DAB is controlled only by the steering wheel controls, with audio feedback, and not by the radio.

When i added an Aux-in to my half-can Vectra with a CDR2005 (using a wired in JVC FM adaptor (KS-IF200) not an FM transmitter one), I then used a Pure 1500 portable DAB radio to get DAB, via a 3.5mm jack socket, and it was tuned into an FM frequency on the radio.
However it was easy to leave the DAB unit on and flatten the DAB radio batteries.
But any audio source, such as an MP3 player, could also be used.

But i am considering a CD70 with Aux-in and using the DAB Radio again, but with a USB 5V power supply for the DAB radio.

Yes, i am currently selling a CD70, but not much interest.
So i am thinking of adding Aux-in to make it more sellable or to keep it and use the DAB radio as I said above.
