Default Omega/vectra b 2.2 petrol help if possible

I know this isn't really the place but an off chance that somebody has had the same probs I'm having with a friends car. 2.2 w reg petrol. Car starts fine. Doesn't rev worth a toss. When it does rev if I hold it at 4 thou rpm after a couple secs the engine dies back down to tick over n almost stalls. When driving every time I lift the clutch wi the revs up it won't pull and kangaroo's all down the road. It tries to accelerate well under full throttle but only full throttle. Tried cam sensor. New plugs. New inlet pipe from maf to inlet manifold. Thinking maybe maf sensor/coil pack/egr valve.
    Any help appreciated.

Is it an Omega or Vec B as the 2.2's in the Omegas are totally different to the Vec's.

It's an omega mate. I thought they were the same just mounted for rear wheel drive.

The Omega has a timing belt opposed to a chain used in the 2.2 Vectra as far as I recall

Unplug the MAF and see if it runs. Mine did this on gas and a new MAF cured it. If you unplug the sensor you'll know. And yes they're different engines - Vectra has the Z22SE whilst the Omega has the Z22XE.

Yeah your both right. Different engines and omega has timing belt. If I unplug it it makes no difference on tickover anyway. Not tried running it?

And the 2.2 Vectra engine (originally in the VX220) is an all alluminium engine.
The Omega 2.2 is a cast iron block, and alloy head, IIRC.
