oil pressure light vxr vectra

well had a little suprise today when adam was doing my smd converstion we found that the oil pressure light had been taped up so it coudnt be seen

is anyone able to help me out on what i need to do or check to see what the problem could be

i have had the veccy since Easter weekend and its running fine with no issues
what kind of issues would you get when the oil pressure light is on

my first thought is oil pressure switch? does anyone have a part number for it

Oil pressure light has been found to come on in very rare occasions and then go off again never to return.

It happened to me once in 5 years of ownership on my Vectra VXR. No ryme or reason, just came on. Checked the oil level, everything was ok. Wasn't racing around, or high speed. Was sitting at traffic lights if I remember correct so pulled over and checked levels.

Anyways, it seems this same thing happens to other Vectra VXR owners occasionally as well. We think its the pressure switch plays up now and then, but not for ongoing periods, just once in a blue moon.

the first time in 5 years too everything was fine tho

my guess is that the last owner has covered it to hide the fact it was on so will keep an eye on it if its on all the time over this week think im going to change the switch if it stays on will also do an oil change as read somewhere if crap oil has been used may not help
what kind of things do i need to watch out for (just in case)

turned the car off and it stayed off luckly but shes due for oil change

A guy on vxr online had this prob everytime he booted it. He replaced the pressure and all ok
