    Default Oil catch tank benefits......

I know the main reason for doing this is to stop the oil going back through inlet and so on but when fitting one you also stop the hot vapours being sucked in aswel does this actually benefit pick up on acceleration as you are only sucking in cold air?

To be fair, I doubt it. The temp sensor is usually before any return feed of the can so the temperature change won't be noticed by the ECU, so no changes... IMO.

Still in process of fitting one to mine however

    Default

on my subaru i just went vent to atmosphere with a arch in the hose to hold the oil mist in suspention and not drip oil onto driveway
oil catch tank does the same thing with a bit of bling but you see what oil has accumulated and drain iy

inlets where breathers went into were blanked off

made my whole inlet / turbo internals / intercooler internals/ manifold internals where the fuel injectors are / valve stems etc spotless over a short period of timewith no gumming up which also reduces the oil the engine burns which isnt good for lambda and cat if fitted

thats the idea to do away with the pcv setup on modern cars which just gunk up over time
no performance gains or ill effects

    Default

I fitted one to my GSi just over 2 years ago. There's absolutely no benefits on performance etc, but my TB and inlet manifold are now spotless, and all I have to do in return is empty the catch tank every 4 weeks or so!
