Default Went to look at a car today. Few questions.

Right went to look at an xpii today. Black 53k was part xing my focus st. Now took the car for a quick test drive and seemed to drive quite well. Did seem to wheel spin as i changed into second, guy said he thought i had my foot on the clutch but Im sure i didnt but he may have been right. While that was happening they were valuing my car....6125. Dream on i said so they came up with a figure of 6500 as i said i wouldnt take less. Thing is the finance still worked out more then Im paying now so not saving money really. Also the other thing is the wimdscreen has quite a big chip near the tax disc. Also the rest bumper on the top near the boot has some damage like its been touched ( deep scratches really) they said they would get both repaired. Still wasnt happy with the figures so left. On the way home they rang and said they nowwould give 6800 for mine so finance payment is 3 quid dearer then Im paying now plus they would get the work fixed. Plus get my tax back which has 9 months left. Do you think this is a good deal? Have to ring back by six.

    What engine was it?

I recall in your other thread you were thinking 2.0T or 1.9CDTI

If you've got any doubts, they're probably there for a reason. if its a 150 cdti a lot of models don't have traction control, mine doesn't and its a 58 plate. If they're agreeing to do the work, just make sure you're happy with it before you sign anything.

Oh and check the swirl bar is fitted correctly... top tip.

Dont know anything about mechanics, swirl bar?? Yeah its a 1.9cdti 150 08 plate. Thing is they want a deposit today but not really happy bout doing that. Problem is they wont fix the damage until its bought and i want it done to a good standard before?

Is it a refundable deposit on the agreement you want the work to be tip top. Are they offering any warranty? Is it from a main dealer?

Yeah Evans halshaw. Didnt say anything about it being refundable. If i say that Il give a 250 refundable deposit and then have the work done. If its good Il sign the deal when i go back to reinspect it?

Wish I could offer you some more advice but I can't. 3 mth warranty is not a lot for a 4 yr old car imo. I've heard on here plenty of horror stories about evans halshaw about after service.

DO NOT get finance through a garage. Get an unsecured personal loan. It is cheaper and means if you want to sell the car or trade it in before you have paid it off you can without owing anyone any money
