    Default aftermarket stereo cut out

    Hi chaps

fitted a kenwood headunit not long after i got the vec and had issues with the unit powering off for couple secs then re-powering up i have now found the source of the power cut outs being the steering wheel if turned sharply the HU powers off then re-powers up again.

Now he answer i require is why does this happen when i do not have it connected to the wheel controls? I have NO autoleads adapter fitted so im a bit miffed as to why this is happening.

    cheers
    Allan

    Bump :P

Nobody else had any similar issues like this? would fitting the steering control adapter solve the problem?

    Cheers

May stop it fitting a steering wheel connector lead thingy it might be cos the head unit is connected to the normal black and canbus thinks there is Sumit wrong with it

The Power Steering takes a lot of electrical power, and does cause a voltage drop especially just after starting the car.
This can be seen on the TID/GID, etc., the display dims after starting the car.
You need to use a multimeter and check the voltage across the battery just after starting the engine running and then moving the steering wheel.
If there is a massive voltage drop, then suspect a faulty battery.

will try the lead first but you may be on to something as the vec also suffers starting problems first thing even after waiting a minute or 2 its not firing up you have to hold the ign on for few seconds before it does fire. Will work 1 problem at a time as work commitments just now i dont get enough time to sort them all out

    Cheers for the comments guys
