Default Speed Camera In Van, do I expect a ticket??

Just a quick question that hopefully someone can answer for me.......

Was going down the road the other day at just over 30mph then noticed a speed trap van parked up at the side of the road.

The camera was pointed the same way as I was travelling, are the cameras only able to read cars approaching them or could I expect a letter in the next couple of weeks.

I wasn't going excessively, maybe not even 35 but sometimes they can be complete arses around here

Think you have to be traveling towards it. I did the same yesterday In my works van only I was driving towards it. I was prob doing 35. Someone once told me sometimes they won't issue a ticket (if it's not excessive speed) say 35 in a 30 if it's a works van as its hard to find who was driving it. How true that is I don't know (I hope it is ha)

Most camera vans have cameras in the back and the front pointing both directions if the back windows was blacked out and one of them was opened well the camera was in action

Around here (Derbyshire) the cameras can be in the front or rear of the vehicle - as far as works vehicles are concerned the Police serve a notice on the registered keeper of the vehicle demanding details of the driver at the time of the offence - it is an offence not to disclose the information.

After I 'd passed it I noticed in the mirror that they had a sign leant up against the front of the van with a pic of a speed camera, but there wasn't one on the front facing the other way (the direction I'd come from)

Threw me a bit as it was a small van not the usual large high sided vans that I normally see doing the job

depends on whether there was a road (post) mounted sign somewhere previous, then they would not need to site a sign near the van itself

No other signs about, only a 30 light up sign which comes on when you go 31mph

Think they only take the cars coming towards them so they can also take a picture of the driver, might be wrong though. When I got caught by a van, I knew id been caught before the letter dropped through the door so I never even went to see the photo.

Eh? Sorry but you've admitted, twice, you were breaking the speed limit. Explain to me how they are the arses? FFS. Ive been caught twice, bang to rights, if you don't want to get caught, don't break the limit its that simple.

Think DasArab has it here, you've admitted the offence!... And lets face it, the Vec comes with a large speedo telling you your speed and also cruise control allowing you to set your speed so as not to 'accidentally' speed.
I do have it on good authority (magistrate) that vans DO take readings in both directions.
