    Default MTEC 501s in MOT?

    Are they gona pass or do I put my old sidelight / number plate bulbs in?

    Be on the safe side and change them, when my car went into Vauxhall for a service they picked up on them and said they wouldn't pass an MOT.
    Others might have had a different experience though.

    Cheers, thought as much! I know my pre-MOT dude well so he'd probably tell me but more convenient to do it in advance.

    When i took the missus astra in for a mot this month, i had to replace the 501 sidelights as it would of failed the mot, so i was informed by the tester.

    Most places will fail them as they are not bright enough, even though they work. If you put your sidelights on in the daytime, standard bulbs are more than visible, wheres the white MTEC ones are almost invisible.

    I took mine out because they are so dim they were pointless.
