Default £30 fine for "speed trap flashers"

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...eed-traps.html

"During a week-long offensive, officers handed out £30 fines to motorists for “misuse of headlights” after they were spotted trying to alert other drivers to police carrying out speed checks."

see this a lot, motorists should concentrate on their own driving more.
£30 fine for it now, fair enough imo.

I think its a bit harsh £30 for trying to help people out. But can see flashing lights might cause a crash if someone thinks its a flash to pull out or pull across at junctions. Just need to be smart about it

Its basically perverting the course of justice. We've been here before, most have done it, those that get caught get upset and spout profanities about the motorist being an easy target. If you do it and get caught, accept it.

Police have been cracking down on that for years, that's why so few people flash to warn others any more. Some people got charged with "preventing a police officer from carrying out his duties". Whether that charge could be applied for a civillian-manned speed camera van, I don't know.

oh, and just incase there's any confusion - no, this isn't about ladies who get their boobs out for the camera.

always thought it was ridiculous that drivers flash their lights at everyone going past. couldn't care less if someone else gets a speeding ticket - stick to the limits and nothing to worry about, otherwise pay up.
