    Default Rear suspension knock

    Hi guys

I suspect I need new rear anti roll bar bushes but wonder if you guys have any insight into my problem.

I've had the car about a week now and the knocking has happened since day one, it appears to be coming from the rear off side however it knocks if you bump either near or off side wheels which would suggest to me its something that links both sides hence my ARB suspisions. The ride hight on the back looks a tad lower than the front and the camber of the wheels is more than i would expect but this might be unrelated.

Anything you can contribute will be welcomed.

Also are these polyflex bushes any good?

    Ta

If you have a trolley, and stands and the weather is permitting, get the rear wheels off and have a look for broken/cracked springs, broken damper mounts, splt, or perished rubber bushs, plus look for gaps between the bush and the rodding going through it.

Theres a lot to look for as there are quite a few components, if your not sure what to do/look for, take it to a formula one, or kwik fit they will normal are a good look round for free.

Or have alook through the How 2 section on this web site as there are loads of helpful stuff, and a lot of pictures showing what to look for.

    Hope thats some help.

Possible the rear shocks have reached the end of their life, hence the sagging at the rear
Equally, the rear springs tend to snap right at the base, and almost impossible to spot without very close inspection
Alternatively the front shocks / springs have been replaced, everyone seems to report this once the originals have been replaced

iv got a kind of knocking too and discocered it was the top two coils of my springs touching (new apex springs).
they were bought specifically for my car so don't know what my next step is other than to replace them

Thanks for all the advice guys. I jacked the back wheel up and prodded and poked the bushes and drop links but they seem ok. Will get both the wheels off the ground and give the arb and springs a good look but if all else fails I think a visit to formula 1 in Stevenage a go.

Well it took me long enough but after changing the rear shocks the noise has subsided. I still hear it now and again but no where near as often as I used to, when I get some cash together will take it to a garage and let them have a proper look but I suspect the upper control arms have probably gona since the ARB bushes look brand spanking new.
