Question Help needed with DRL wiring

    Hey guys.

Just fitted some aftermarklet DRL's to my car. They wire to an ignition live, and earth. There is a third wire that goes into the "control box", thet turns the DRL's off when the sidelights are turned on. I have connected this to the sidelight live. However, this causes the DRL's to flicker when the sidelights are off. I'm guessing I need an in-line resistor to put between this wire and the sidelight live?

Can anyone give tell me (a link would be great) exactly what I need to stop the flickering?

-- if I disconnect this wire from the sidelights, the DRL's stay on, and if I put it to another live, they go out, showing the "control box" does work properly.

    Any help appreciated

    Thanks

Got a better idea... Take the 3rd wire from the dash feed, this is not on the bulb check system and that's what causes the flicker.

Once the dash lights are on they'll go off, no flashing

Is that the sidelight warning light on the dash clocks? Or could it be any light on the dash triggered when the sidelights are on?

How would I connect to the circuit?

I've no idea how to run the cable through into the engine bay

Any grey/yellow wire from the yellow dash LEDs, you can take them from anywhere behind the dash... You'd need to feed the speaker wire behind the grommets in the fire wall, one behind the glove box or drivers footwell...

There may be a feed from under the engine fuse box but I'm not sure which.

All of the wiring for any of the exterior bulbs is on a test circuit. If you swapped your sidelight bulbs for LEDs you would notice them flickering when off. Its part of the CanBus test system. All you can do is as mentioned above and wire them into an LED live. there is one at the front Cigarette lighter socket that comes on when you open the the doors too. Would be a nice touch.

(Just noticed that this is basically what has already been posted... sorry)

I found a fuse that comes live when the sidelights are turned on, and dead when sidelights are turned off (bulb goes out when fuse removed).

But it also comes live when the ignition is turned on too, even with sidelights off. So no good.

Was looking for an under-bonnet feed.

Looks like it's a glovebox out job at the weekend

I have the DRL's on with the ignition, but they are on all the time, even with sidelights on.

Need to connect that third wire to a live that comes on with lights, to finish the job. (was hoping a fuse under the bonnet would do this!)

My cigarette lighter is just an accessory socket, with no light

But it does light up with side lights, even if there isnt a light there there is a spare plug floating around near it which has a yellow and grey wire. Same as I used for my interior LED mods. Only problem is, it may be dimable with the interior lights...

Just thought, should be easy enough to wire to the lighting wire on the back of the heater control panel, then feed through?

Anyway............... (sorry about poor pic quality... iPhone!!)
