Might be worth sticking up a wanted thread with a picture of the alloy your looking for bud.

As for the code reading, I will be staying down at Barnard Castle for a week later in the month and can read the codes if you haven't found someone by then

Is it just the ABS light, or has the Traction Control come on as well?

A common cause - and easy to check - for causing the airbag lights is the wiring connector on the floor under each of the front seats, especially if the seats are moved about a lot. Push the seats right forward and check the halves of the connectors are properly fitted together.

If that doesn't sort it, it might be worth getting the code read as it could be related to wiring, an airbag, a sensor, or the ECU (and probably some other stuff too)...

Your choice really but if I was fishing under there myself, I'd disconnect and re-connect to be sure. They are connectors for airbags so take care. Make sure the ignition is off. For some airbag work you have to take the battery off and wait 10 minutes for the capacitors to discharge, but I don't recall anyone doing that for these particular connectors.

Did you buy the car privately or through a garage? If its a garage then it would be better to take it back to them and get it sorted in case you damage anything trying to fix it yourself.
