Default Cambelt and tensioner kit changed but not waterpump

Hi At time of buying my 2004 Vectra 1.8 petrol a few weeks ago the dealer said they would replace the cambelt and tensioner kit. The car has done 70000 miles and owner who had it from new never had cambelt changed although regularly serviced (documented proof and verified) I know this was a disaster waiting to happen. I got my local garage who I trust to check if cambelt etc was replaced and it was. Not that i was suspicious lol However like an idiot I did not insist on water pump being changed and although not leaking or making any noises I am not sure what to do. (1) Should I get it replaced and as cambelt etc have only done 800 miles can they remain on car. How much labour time would it take to do water pump? or (2) If I leave it will the wate pump display and signs of bing on the way out thus giving me a heads up? Thanks in advance for your advise

    Engine : Z18XER

    Default

    Depends on engine code
If its Z18 XE I'd get it changed as these or the tensioners fail and snap the belt.
If its Z18XER Pump is run off auxilliary drive belt

It will be the z18xe as the z18xer didn't come in until around the end of 2005 on the facelift model.

To replace the water pump its likely to be around a 2 hour job, so including the pump around £120 from an independent, if you supply the pump. Still not seen a 1.8 with a failed timing belt or a failed water pump either on here, so I wouldn't get too excited.

As DasArab says it is the z18xe. Water pump between £30 and £40 online so not too bad so probably spot on with £120 all in. Probably take your advice and not get too excited but may price it up and get some quotes. Just angry at myself for not mentioning water pump when they were going to change cambelt etc
