Fault code reader

got my dpf removed and got egr removed from the software, remap also done, car was running ok but then engine management light came on and wont go out, car running really well, been quoted £40 from garage to look at the code and reset, my question is would i be better buying one of these and doing meself???

are these any good or do i then need to purchase software to use

take it back to whoever mapped it and tell them to sort mate..

if its happened just after the remnap then something isnt right.

took it back and came up with error code for EGR which he mapped out? anyways reset it and off i went, about an hour ago the emissions light is now on, phoned the company that did the remap and they are going to get back to me, anyone any ideas??
