Question 12v ignition live for multiple items??

Hi, i am in the process of installing a new stereo :

with a HD/SD DVB-T freeview box specific to that head unit.

The freeview unit needs 12v power from the ignition not direct from the battery, it also has twin amplified antenna's which also need 12v power to each.

I am also going to fit a dedicated ipone charger.

I have read a few posts and was leaning towars using the 12v accessory socket but am not sure if wireing the freeview box, the 2 antenna's and the iphone charger would be too much?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Many thanks in advance, Shawzy

Sawzy, I would lend towards running a 4-5mm core lead direct from a in line fuse at the battery, through the rubber gromit in the engine bay, behind the glove box and use a 4 pin relay switched from the supply to the cig lighter socket. As lee says, you should be fine but if a fault develops down the line, at least you'll know it isn't any of your 'extras' causing it. Best safe than smoldering fire wreck

Thanks Lee for your quick reply

Can you recomend a relay sierra, as i like the thought of the dedicated live from the battery?

Please keep us posted on how you sort it and if the head unit and features are any good. I'm watching this on ebay at the moment and a little apprehensive about buying it until I hear feedback as I had a different one that wasn't very good

Cheers for that Chaz, so, live from the bat with an inline fuse, through the bulkhead to the relay, switch wire from the accessory socket, Live out to the six way fuse box for a seperate fused feed for each accessory i want to add? is there any reason its showing a 5 pin relay or was that just as an example???
    Cheers again in advance Shawzy

@ Pompey... Already have the head unit fitted and i already like it, couple of things need ironing out but as soon as i know the pro's and cons i'll make sure your the first to know...
will add a few pics of in a seperate thread of the system when its fully installed

Spot on Shawzy. Just make sure the main fuse is close to the positive terminal on the bat, just to be safe.

5 pin relays give you other options further down the line if you want to add or change things. Handy if you ever need/wanted a negative switched feed. Your talking penny's between 5/4 pin, or in the case of that Ebay seller, no price difference.

As long as the overall current being drawn is less than 10 amps then it'll be fine.
