Wet passenger side rear foot well.
Hi all, hope someone can offer some help.
The carpet in the rear passenger side foot well of my 52 plate Vectra C is wet. Not just wet, soaked!!! I have tried having the heating on full (and set to blow down), scooping the water out and even been down to local petrol station and used their vacuum to suck out the water. Result, dry for about a day and then soaked again. I happens if it is raining or dry.
Back in July I suffered the flooding due to the drainage hole under the pollen filter being blocked, this soaked the Passenger Foot well, which I dried out, but didn't think of drying the rear (don't ask why, I just didn't think of it).
I don't know whether the water in the rear passenger foot well is water from that flooding or not. I expect it is not as I can dry it out and the next day it is soaked again (unless there is an area under the rear carpet which is acting as a reservoir).
I have checked under the skuttle at both ends and everything is dry, I have taken out the glove box and everything is dry behind there. The Trim around the rear door is dry so I don't think it is coming in from there, which from what I can see leaves only two possible places for the water to come from. These are:
The air blower under the passenger seat.
Or the condensation pipe from the air con (this is a real stab in the dark as I don't know where this is located, although I exepct that this is probably towards the front of the car).
I have noticed that the pollen filter is missing from the car, but looking at the air inlet I don't see any way that rain would get in there, the vent in the skuttle is too far to the right for the rain to get directly in (I think), and based on other threads i have read it seems like water coming in that way always floods the front passenger foot well, not the rear.
Looking at the wet marks in the carpet I think that the water is coming from under the passenger seat as the sides (trim, center console and seat) are all dry apart from the bottom 20mm or so.
I've run out of anything else to try, so any help or suggestions are very much appreciated.
