    Default Diesel fuel filter

    My signum CDTI 1.9 150 running a bit rough, warning light on and off (car with spanner through it) manual says water in fuel filter, anyone know how to empty it and where is it located

    its the big black can with the pipes going into it on the centre of the engine compartments rear firewall.. Reach underneath and there will be a little tap..open that and the water will drain out as it will be at the bottom..when you get 100% diesel close the tap..

    It may be time to give it a filter change ..

    just remember to get a big cloth or a container to catch the fluid.....lol

    thanx for your advice think it is something electrical the prob got worse, its now at main dealers waiting for parts.
    Will tell you the outcme when it returns, a few days they say

    How does the tap open ? I know a silly question but I have tried turning what i have found under the filter and can't get it to budge. Also how do you change the filter on these ?

    sorry to bump this back up anyone able to help me as i cant open the tap on the fuel filter either it wont budge twisting either way

    Imagine your right hand on the knerled tap with your index finger and thumb gripping it. now turn to the left *anti clockwise* until fluid drops out, normally half a turn is enough it can be stiff, but it will give, best tip is put a marigold on 1st, hth.

    i was going the right way about it at least just seemed really stiff
    got a nice pink pair of marigolds under the sink lol will be using them when the rain decides to stop

    Gives you a bit more grip, once it cracks it turns really freely, just don't brutalise it, worst case, get some cloth and some grips and turn it, again only grip as much as to grip it or it will shatter.
