Default Anyone Know about Jaguar Cars? All info welcome. Thinking of part x ing the Siggy, talk me out of it!

I have been offered a reasonable px price for my Siggy. I'm looking at a 2.5 V6 Jaguar sport petrol with full leather etc etc. I took it for a test drive and it seemed a bit slow compared to my Siggy 2.2DTI which is running with 140bhp.

They are supposed to have 196bhp with a 0-60 time of 7.8 ish seconds.
The guy says he will get it in the shop to check it over. then said when its running right he'll give me a call for another test drive, Thursday. " It needs a service" he said!!
Whats info do you guys have and whats your thoughts.

    Thanks in advance.

I want something with more grunt with refinements and looks.

Yeah I know they were built on the mondeo platform I was hoping for a bit of grunt but I found it a bit slow

I don't want a mondeo tough, I was looking for a bit more prestige. The one I was looking at had R badges on dunno if they are factory or if they were just stuck on!!
They come up on parkers with 198 bhp. I found it hard to believe thats what it had. it was like it was in limp mode or somethin pooor, throttle response etc. It cruised up to 70 quit nicely but no umph like you get with a turbo.

buy something that isnt a jag, you dont want a mondeo, but your looking at a jag that is a mondeo, in all but name. even the same terrible unreliable engines.

The V6 petrols are 4wd too iirc, I wanted one before I got my Vec, my dad had an X-Type 2.2D Sport premium, might have the underpinnings of a Mondeo but feels far more special to both be in and drive

Ive been reading up on the Jag forums and on the whole they say that they are very reliable lumps both the 2.5 192 bhp and the 3.0 232 bhp engines. they were re-designed by the jag people from the mondeo 172 bhp lump.

I agree Kev, when I took it for a spin the car was ultra smooth and very quiet. The power delivery did not thump you in the back in the way a turbocharged engine would. It just Pulled and pulled with what seemed like not much effort. I'm not to sure if I liked that! I suppose it is supposed to be a luxury motor though.
