Angry National Tyres Damage my alloy`s

I took my signum to national tyre`s to have 2 new front tyres fitted today which they did,but before I drove off I noticed the alloy`s were scuffed all the way round on each spoke in the same place on both wheels. They didnt have a mark on them when I took it in so I was not happy and complained and they inspected them and agreed that this must have had happend during the balancing process and they will have to be refurbished so I am waiting for a call from the area manager this week to see exactly what they are going to do.
Very mad about this since I take good care of my car and always take care not to kirb the wheels and this happens.
    £225 for 2 new tyres and 2 damaged alloy`s

Certainly not good, but hey if you score a full refurb at their cost then happy days, they might need to do all 4 so they match

Having just 2 done will show the other 2 up and 9 times out of 10 be a different shade.

Might be worth getting the other 2 done at the same time or put the 2 fresh ones on one side of the car.

Good job you clocked the damage before you left, otherwise they'd have probably dodged the responsibiity, but I am really surprised that they didn't try and tell you that the damage must have been there before you arrived though.

More likely either the removal or the tyres or the refitting (maybe both)

Can't see how the tyre balancer can cause damage other than a clumsy fitter missing the weight with his hammer when knocking them on the rim.

Dont know how the balancer would cause the damage the lad in charge suggested it had ! Definatley not off a hammer its on exactly the same place on each spoke. What made me look was how scruffy the wheels were when they had finished they were absolutley black and they were gleaming when they started, anyway I am still waiting for a call.

Ah, they touch a metal arm up against the wheel prior to spinning them up. Something to do with lining the wheel up on the balancer due to different wheel widths IIRC. Perhaps the rubber protector on the end had fallen off or something?

It's very common to get dirt transfer when using the balancing machine, it's almost impossible to avoid it (unless you are using disposal gloves and change them every time after touching a wheel)
However if the mark is on every spoke at exactly the same distance from the centre of the wheel, this suggests the safety cage mounting has failed, and was in contact with the wheel, or there was debris within it

Wasnt that botherd about the dirt on the wheel`s but I do think they could give them a quick wipe with a cloth once they have finished or maybe they new the damage was done and left so much dirt on to mask the damage.
