Either reach in through the front passenger door and press the lock button on the drivers door panel, or reach in from the rear door and do the same. Then exit out the door you reached across from.

    or

open drivers window, reach in and press the lock button on the drivers door panel and then close the window on the same panel and getting your arm out the way before it closes.

    - MAKING SURE YOU HAVEN'T LEFT YOUR KEYS IN THE CAR using either method.

Does the alarm set if you just press the button on the fob once? You could try disabling the ultrasonics via the dashboard switch, see if that helps too.

    Where did you read that?
Ferry operators know some are integrated central locking and alarms, and that doesn't apply
What they are referring to is vehicles which are locked and have a separate alarm

Brittany ferries clearly state in their conditions of travel that you must ensure your alarm is disabled. as the motion of the ferry crossing can set of the motion sensor alarms

This is what I have done for the past 10 years or so and haven't had a problem. Well, I've never been called to return to my car to shut the alarm up anyway. Mind you it's so quiet it wouldn't disturb anyone .
