Default 1.9CDTi 150 BHP EGR Blanking - Thank you

Having spent a couple of hours reading up on the above I took the plunge and decided to give it a try spending less than £4 on ebay.

Since getting the Vectra in October I have been disappointed by the lack of pull when pulling away from a standing start without giving lots of revs. Having previously had an 02 plate Mondeo TDCi which pulled from virtually tick over.

Just fitted my blanking plate and been for a quick 5 mile test from cold and the car is a different animal. No more wait till 1500 to 2000 till the power comes in, and now have the car I hoped I was buying originally.

The only problem I have now is after getting such a notable difference from a sub £4 mod I am seriously considering ringing MAS performance and going for a Remap.

Did you completely blank it off or use the blank with the little hole in the middle ?

Next job on my list is clean/and/or blank it off.

Forget the hole int he middle - it defeats the whole object of blanking it off. You just have to live with the light till you can get it mapped out, along with the obligatory remap of course...

LOL, thank you Penfold, I was just wondering as I have seen some people say it was "better" somehow, I guess it just doesnt show the light if its the "polo" blank

If you blank it, does it still need to be cleaned out ? (just being lazy now )

Currently running a CRD2 on the standard setting, I have a light on already lol, but Im not sure if the EGR is bunged up or if its a glow plug (it always starts but takes 2-3 seconds when cold)

Car has 90k on the clock and it does smoke a little sometimes when I boot it.

Funny you posted this, i also blanked mines too and it is responsive now. i think its much better. I also noticed even though you can have it mapped out its still pumps exhaust gasses through it. blanking it has done the trick
