yep, sounds like you'll need a new clutch then mate....

as for the flywheel.. don't automatically replace it.. just inspect it when the gearbox and clutch is off..

    thanks again,

maybe this question is unanswerable but here it goes....

can the clutch just "go" at anytime?? i'm planning a 500mile round trip for a funeral and dont know if its advisable to take car incase it goes?? and what happends when it goes is the car moveable and does it cause anymore damage to the car...
its a pain in the **** its a company car (small stingy company) hope they get it fixed soon, they may just buy another car dont think they will spend the cash on it, (hope to god its a vectra) ive not had it long they are kind of blaming me for it, its done 115,000 miles do you think the cars got much more life in it and is that a normal life span for a clutch???

If it's slipping as bad as you describe then i would NOT drive it on a 500 mile trip
If it is slipping it will overheat and could just disintegrate on you m8. No drive at all!

    Default Dual Mass Flywheel

A friend of a friend has one on a Volvo - and the bill to replace the clutch etc was £1400 odd. As I understand it the dual mass flywheel is used as a sort of vibration damper to smooth out the vibration at the gearbox end of the crankshaft .. but i stand to be corrected on this !
