Default Changing rear shocks

After reading dosens of threads about noises, banging, bouncing etc I've decided to change my rear shocks. I've got the crunshing noise when going over speed bumps, car doesn't feel safe going round corners, especially if i go over a small bump mid-corner, back end does seem to sit fair low.

It's too dark and raining to check now, but I'm fairly sure changing rear shock will solve it. Vectra has done 80k so probably due a change (hopefully not first change)

I've rear that Vauxhall can charge around £225-£250 for changing rear shocks, so going to do myself. I've rear that it's quite easy to do.. undo top, undo bottom, take out and replace, and put back in reverse order.

What I wanted to find out was what shock will I need to get? There are different ones for different models etc..?
    I have a 52 plate SXi.

Also would somebody be really kind and take a picture of under their wheel arch and point out the bolts to undo? I don't want to undo wrong ones, then try and drive off and end up with a mess :s

    Thanks guys!

PS. just fitted some front flatblades, and wow! they make windscreen like it's just been washed and cleaned after every wipe..

i'll see if i can't get you some pictures in the morning, but it is really easy.. there are just 2 bolts..one at the top going through the inner wheelarch, and one at the bottom going into the hub assy.. just undo those two..it really is that easy!!!!!....

i can remember off hand if the sxi has lowered suspension or not as standard..but the rear axle weight shouldn't be that different, so you'd only have a choice of 2 really..

The car does seem to sit lower compared to other vectras that I pull up next to at traffic lights, so either all suspension is broke, or it is lowered as standard. With regards to weight etc, I don't know about all that. Just a novice..

right.. so when they ask 'is that standard or sports suspension?' you want sports then..

The axle weights are found on the chassis plate in the drivers door pillar..they tell you how much weight each axle has to bear from the vehicle..Fronts suspension is divided up into different weights for different spring and damper rates, to cope with the different relative weights of the engines and gearboxes..the rear thou doesn't differ that much, so any 'sports' rear dampers will do, even if you are 50Kgs different in axle weight..

Too expensive for me at the moment. I'll be after the VX ones at <£40 each for 2 rear...

Thanks for your advice guys, I'll have a work with the stealers sometime during week.
