Exclamation MOT - Pass or Fail...?

    Hey all,

Well it's that time again for my Vectra... MOT time...!

In that past year I have changed all the springs to Eibachs, changed the drop links, the top mounts and top bushes...

I also know the rear breaks are badly worn (parts on order) and need replacing (disks and pads) and that they is a slight but noticable creek at the back of the car which I am assuming is the banna arms reaching the end of their life....

The exhuast hangers are also bady rusted although are still working.

So a 2004 LS X18XE 1.8 16v with 91K on the clock (arround 10K of which was with my wife driving it ) with some service history and DIY repairs all round....

So what is the chances of the car passing...?

I think my poll is quite appropraite for this one!

    Boft.... It passed...

No advisories... I have some play on my passenger track rod end but nothign to worry about (or even be noted on the test). The exhaust hanger is cracked at the front of the box and shered at the back but still passed. The rear discs are woren and pads are worn but both still passed with no advisory...!

Flippen heck.. Not had a sucessfull MOT like that in years!

Well done - examiner would probably have seen all the new bits you have put on and realised that you look after it - them exhaust hangers are a pain the boxes are stainless steel and the hangers are mild steel - I made a good repair for the rear one on my 2004 1.9 estate and it got through its test ok. I'm pretty sure its the original system on mine and a shame to scrap a 75% stainless system for a couple of hangers.

The examiner sugested using a jewbalee (check out the spelling ) to hold it together or something or trying to fit soe screwed rod to the hanger.... The wife took the insturctions so will need to have a look myself and try and work it out...
