Default New EGR Valve £560 to replace???

So I took my 2.0 DTI siggy into the stealers near me in Cambourne and they have quoted me £560 to replace the EGR valve and the upper intake manifold. Is this a reasonable price and is there a how2 for the dti that I've not managed to find. Being the fact that im brassic at the moment its not a reachable figure. Also I've done my brakes on my cars and replaced various bit myself for the last couple of years, is this a job for the intermediate?

    Cheers,

    Ed

It's easy to be honest mate.

I'd take them both off and clean them up as they fill up with sticky gunk

Eddy i would not entertain paying out for replacement,s I would clean them first its a relatively straight forward job .
I strip and clean mine on a regular basis and can do it in less than one hour , all you need is a aerosol can of carburretor cleaner and a paint brush along with the usual spanners etc.

i followed the how 2 for cleaning mine, it really is easy to clean the egr valve.

you will need 10mm deep socket ideally although a spanner will do also.

A sticky EGR will trigger the emissions light, after cleaning and a dozen or so starts of the car the light should reset itself
