Eek Woe is me, but thank god for scrapyards!

I came back to my car from a late night game of bowling at my local bowling alley the other night, to find that my beautiful veccy has had it's front passenger side window smashed to pieces! my car got ransacked, but luckily the only stole my iPod out of my glove box.

By the looks of it, they saw my double din LCD stereo and tried to steal it, upon finding out that it's a lot harder to remove than it looks, they rummaged around in my center arm rest and my glove box, threw everything onto the passenger seat and decided that the only thing worth stealing was my iPod. *phew*, they left my expensive Oakley sunglasses and the brand new hard drive that was sitting in my glove box and only took my 7 year old decrepit iPod.. still that's £180 for a brand new one!

The only part of the whole ordeal that's actually annoyed me however apart from the monetary loss, is that they've managed to scratch the coating on the window pillar and they've dented the inner part of the pillar that the window sits flush against bending the metal inwards. - If they were going to smash my window they could have at least aimed a little better and avoided denting my damn door pillar! grr.

Anyway, thanks to my brother who randomly decided to pay a visit to a large scrapyard today, he's managed to pick up a new original GM window completely intact from a scrapped Vectra c that he found at the yard, all for only £20+vat. Hooray! that's saved me having to pay out £150 to a window fitter for a new (and non GM original) window.

It does beg the question if it's worth leaving the car open. Save them smashing windows and denting bodywork. If they want to be in, the locks will only stop them opening the door, but the glass is the weak point.

The pain is all the hassle of getting the window replaced etc, rather than the theft itself,.. sickening tho, feel for you buddy.

I've disconnected my alarm so it uses the horn which i also upgraded to a stebel duel horn so whoever breaks into my car will get a shock.

don't forget to press the locking on you fob twice to dead lock it.

Whilst out cleaning my car yesterday a neighbour across the street came over to ask me if I knew where to get cheap parts for their car. Some scrote has stolen the lower bumper grill and one of the upper bumper grills from their 2008 Megane Saloon. You just wouldn't get tired of beating them if you caught them at it.

Yeah I immediately thought to myself "crap, I should have done this mod ages ago! maybe it would have put them off smashing my glass." I shall be doing it tonight that's for sure. Is it just as simple as cutting (disconnecting) the wire connected to the speaker in the boot?

And yeah I always deadlock the car ;s

I disconnected the rear alarm so the horn works but I always get a warning on my display saying there's a fault with the system
