    Default normal cdti 150 temp??

Just wondering whats the normal coolant/temp gauge reading on the 150 cdti engine?

I've used the search function but read a couple of conflicting opinions, basically, I had my thermostat replaced last week by a mate, my temp gauge now goes up to 86/87 but in stop/start traffic will rise to about 91, on the motorway it will stay at 86/87

is this normal or could i have some air locked?

Sounds very much like mine it sits around the mid 80's then touches 90 in hot days with standing traffic

the actual temp guage is not very acurate... if you have cd70 use the test mode & get the true reading, you will find standing still runs mid to high 90's even when the actual guage is saying low 90's

funny you mention this, I'm sure i noticed my cd70 in safe mode stating 97 but then dropped back down when on the move - i take it this is normal? at what temp reading should i start to worry?

Most cars I've had usually sit somewhere about 90° or so for normal running. Yours sounds perfectly normal to me.

I changed my 150 CDti thermostat last Saturday. Prior to this the temperature (digital readout from the CD 30 head unit) was all over the place but generally running approx 70 to 73 C. With the new stat, it takes pretty much the same time to start registering but now sits constant at 84 to 86. Rising very slightly in traffic. Yours sounds very normal as stated above.
BTW the digital readout and the needle readout are pretty much in unison on my car (obviously the needle is slower to react to change than the digital readout).
