Could be the passenger door seal, or even the heater matrix?

defo not heater the water is clean (doesnt smell of antifreeze) plus no loss in expansion bottle . I`ll have a look at the seal i do know that the little rubber lip that sits on top of the door itself has a slight rip in it but didnt think water would come in through that .

    It's possible.

Was the carpet completely dried out after the initial soaking before the scuttle drain was cleaned?

Might be worth using a pressure-washer around the door and checking for water ingress there and then

Check the windscreen/scuttle seal & the little holes on the outside of the scuttle just below the windscreen

quick update just had glovebox out lifted carpet to dry up the carpet and noticed that were the live wire for the sub comes through the rubber bung i could see daylight lol (this wasnt fitted by me but the previous owner)
so ive sealed the hole with some sikaflex lol fingers crossed ive cured my leak.
it looked like the wire was directly below the scuttle drain and was acting as a guide for the water to run straight in
