Default Urgent Help needed please, 150 belt broken

    Hi
I have a 1.9 150 with water pump failed. I am fitting the new belt back on and havnt got the genuin belt with marks as VX are closed. The crank is lighned up with marks, but the cam has no pointer, like the 120 has? I have no locking pins and want to see a pic of a cam pulley position when crank marks are lighned up. Thanks

Belts marks are not necessary otherwise all belts would have them, plus after one rotation of the engine they won't line up again. The two marks you need are the crank pulley which you've aligned, and then just make your own on the cam pulley and casing, use some tippex. Fit the belt - start around crank then up to cam keeping that bit taught then fuel pump pulley, tensioner and finally water pump. Check the pulleys haven't moved by the marks, tension and rotate engine twice. Your pulley marks will or should be in the same place and line up. Job done

'Why is there no pointer on the 150 engine??????'

? Why do men have nipples - your supposed to make the marks on the camshaft pulleys and a fixed point on the block/ head casing when the old belt is still in place which in effect gives you the original settings. You Thread title says the belt was broken - in which case you can't use the old settings - although your text says the water pump has failed!

I think you will need the timing tool as it locks the crank in a different position and then the cam marks line up.

Have a look at the tool instructions: http://www.tooled-up.com/artwork/ProdPDF/VS4775.pdf
