    Default Wishbones

Well, my wishbones need doing...AGAIN. I got a bit over 12 months (15-20k miles) out of the cheaper autovaux ones. (similar price to ebay at the time)

From observation, there seems to be 2 price ranges for these, around £50 and well over £100 for genuine (and sometimes not) ones, my question is, is there any difference between these ? will the genuine actually last that much longer ? as i don't really want to be replacing them every 12 months!!

I've looked at the powerflex bush kits which seem quite well priced, but in my experience it's the ball joint which gets damaged most, and these don't appear to be replaceable serperately, unless someone can tell me otherwise, so it seems pointless putting good bushes in if the ball joint is just going to go anyway!

So, looking for others experience, and what they have done

    Thanks

Get lomferder ones from ECP or try get genuine ones .... ECP ones around 100£ but in the end of the day undo get what u pay for.... Genuine ones last 100 k + so you do the math

Not sure if anyone has tried replacing the bushes on the front wishbones but for the price alone I'd be willing. Had a look at Powerflex's website and it looks as they do bushes for the Front and Rear mounts on the Front Wishbones

    http://www.powerflex.co.uk/products/...29-2690/1.html

Looks as though items 1 & 2 are for the Front Wishbones and when you cost them together it works out to be £56.28 per wishbone and from what I've heard Polyurethane bushes are supposed to be the biz

Will be going down this route when I get the opportunity and might get the rear upper control arms done (even though they are closer to £100 per side) when funds allow

As you have already mentioned though it seems as though the ball joint is not replaceable so I'm guessing the wishbone would ultimately need to be replaced

    Good luck getting it sorted,
    Damo

It's true you can't replace the wishbone lower ball joint and that's the part that takes 90% of the abuse , I changed near side wishbone last week and will be changing the off side tomorrow
I paid £40 for each one and if they last a year I'll be happy it's only a 20 min job to change them

had to change my nearside wishbone for my MOT and also recently changed a mate's nearside one due to the ball joint failing...

both cost around the £65.00 mark each and were brought from different places

Balljoints failing within 15K miles? Are you bumping up and down kerbs constantly?
