    Default Weekend madness!!

I have begun the thoughts on changing the Vectra, but,,,,,, what do I want next? well lets have a quick summary

From May 2010 to June 2012 I have driven just shy of 38,000 miles 5K in one Vectra the balance in this car a black 57 plate SRi CDTI 150.

The list of breakage's and faults in that time

    1.

Thats right, Nothing, nada not a fault nowt,,,,,,,,,

She has a full VSH, and I have done mid miles oil changes with Fully synthetic, I have cleaned the EGR once, I have routed the crankcase to atmos, and bought four tyres, aero wipers, HID 4300K kit.

I do drive her quite hard but in a respectful manner, but by no means thrash the "nads" off her, I look after her when we are out avoiding the worst potholes and the nastiest roads, smooth out the gearshifts to minimise DMF damage etc etc.

So, here she sits with 66K on the clock averaging 51mpg. Current list of faults and non-working things?
    1. A creaky glovebox lid,
    2. A rattly ashtray lid
    3. There is nothing else to really add,,

    So,

Do I look to buy an 11 plate Insignia? Do I buy another but say 10K mile 09 plate Vectra for half that money?

or do I keep going with her?
Every emotion says keep going with this one, but, vanity, that niggling desire for something else something newer won't go away right now,,,,,,,

Fixed them both plus sorted the armrest which has been creaky as well and was a bit annoying.

I used 2.5mm foam tape hidden under the top edge of the closing panel of the dash for the glovebox, then removed the entire ashtray unit and used 1mm foam adhesive tape to locate the housing which worked a treat then finally a strip on the hidden face of the armrest unit and VOILA silence is golden again.

Total fix cost? free as I had the d/s foam tape at home!

I cut the foam tape into a strip about 5mm wide and placed it on the contact face of the cloth covered lift up section this is now a tight close onto the latch (of the tray that then forms the larger hinging armrest.

Onto this when I lifted it up to the vertical position I placed a large strip of foam tape hidden from view so that when it is folded back down for use the foam cushions the armrest from the back of the console. It worked a treat for me.

As for the ashtray, I lifted out the OBDII ashtray unit then unclipped the entire unit before again placing in d/s foam tape on the console itself then pressing the ashtray back into place bonding it to the console. I placed two small pieces at either edge of the small ashtray to cusion it when it is sitting in place and that worked perfectly.

No creaks groans or squeaks at the moment!

Mine does exactly the same when I press my leg against the centre console and it is driving me mad

Was only thinking about how I should go about fixing this yesterday so you must have read my mind

Think I might go out and source some foam sticky tape and plaster the panels with it in the hope of some peace and quiet lol

Many thanks gents, love this forum
