    Default vectra my most annoying car ever

    my 53 plate 2.2dti does an average of 52mpg ! this is a true figure i,ve not reset any trip to get this figure over a short period of time. i,ve had this car about 3 years now.
    it is i think a good looking car it has all i need in the way of extras. its powefull enough and roomy and has not let me down engine wise. there lies the problem because it seems pretty much everything else has.
    1/ washer jets clogged up
    2/headlight/side light bulbs fail all the time
    3/left side wiper control rod decided to fall off
    4/THE most annoying intermitent wiper control system ever designed ( and i use that word loosely)
    5/ an anti glare rear view mirror that does'nt anti glare
    6/the famous swiming pool in the passenger foot well
    7/then the famous fail of the blower system due to item 6 above
    8/heated seats now dont work
    9/parking sensor system now also does'nt work
    10/NO ONE INCLUDING VAUXHALL KNOWS WHAT RELAY IS FOR WHAT (ssshhhhh ! its a secret)
    11/rear badges jump ship as it seems they have had enough too
    one more thing not entirly just vectra's. a simple question. space saver wheels...... WHY?
    thankyou all. selling this car asap and will not vauxhall again

    At least you have onlu suffered each problem once, and it has been resolved
    I know many, many people that have reported the same problem over, and over again, only to be told "no fault found", and paying for it as well

    The Vectra is good value for money
    Sadly all other modern cars are pretty much the same now, designed to be thrown away after 3 years / 60K miles

    1/ washer jets clogged up
    Rubber filter in washer bottle clogs up if you or the previous owner don't use screen wash

    2/headlight/side light bulbs fail all the time
    New one on me

    3/left side wiper control rod decided to fall off
    Known fault, wipex make replacements cheaply.

    4/THE most annoying intermitent wiper control system ever designed ( and i use that word loosely)
    In what way? 1 touch up is intermittent, the roller switch then allows you to decide how often they wipe.

    5/ an anti glare rear view mirror that does'nt anti glare
    Check the cable has not come off at the mirror or the rear fuse box.


    6/the famous swiming pool in the passenger foot well
    If you dont keep the drain hole clear it will get blocked. Remove the rubber drain and it will never get blocked again.


    7/then the famous fail of the blower system due to item 6 above
    Well documented and if you follow the above you wont have an issue.


    8/heated seats now dont work
    Check the fuses in the rear fuse box and the connectors under the seats.


    9/parking sensor system now also does'nt work
    Not sure if there is a separate fuse for that


    10/NO ONE INCLUDING VAUXHALL KNOWS WHAT RELAY IS FOR WHAT (ssshhhhh ! its a secret)
    PM Plasma, I think he might have a list of them

    11/rear badges jump ship as it seems they have had enough too
    Yea mine came off when I polished them.


    one more thing not entirly just vectra's. a simple question. space saver wheels...... WHY?

    Why not a space saver? Most spare wheels never see the light of day, its all about cost. Think yourself lucky you have that, many cars now dont even come with a space saver, in fact there was an option to drop it and replace it with an emergency tyre inflation kit on the vec.

    If those are just your problems (which are all easily fixed) then I'd be more than happy.

    My other car. 1972 1641cc slammed beetle. On the road finally!!

    its not a big deal get insignia washer jets and check your scuttle panel more often then you wont have a puddle and a broken fan.

    he could of had a bill like this

    1. Injector #3 wiring loom: This is a blatent design fault,l. Good news is it's cheap to fix, especially if you DIY.

    2. Throttle body: A manufacturing fault sometimes causes a solder joint to break. Easily and cheaply fixed with a soldering iron and some solder - usually no need to buy a new one.

    3. EGR valve: This can sometimes get clagged up and cause problems at 60-80k miles, maybe sooner if used on a lot of short journeys or around town. Usually cleaning fixes it, but sometimes a new one is required. This problem affects many modern diesels and is inflicted by EU emission regs. I don't consider this to be vauxhall's fault.100 pounds

    4. Intake manifold/swirl valves: Swirl valve bearings wear out at around 80-100k. Crap design, blame vauxhall entirely for this one. Only solution is to fit a complete new one. Not an easy DIY job, so expect to pay a garage around £700 for this.

    5. Dual Mass Flywheel: Usually knackered by 100k miles, maybe sooner if abused (harsh gear changes, stalling, etc). I'm in the same camp as many others on this forum - this has to be considered a very expensive service item as the same problem seems to afflict most car manufacturers. Not an easy DIY job, so expect to pay a garage around 650.00 pounds
