    Default Need help and advice please

    Right long story short just had my oil leak sorted and new cambelt and new filter and new oil but car still making a knocking noise so been told its a pulley on the inlet side and the pulley alone is nearly 200 plus vat im just seeing if anyone knows is this price good and has had anything like this happen to them? car is a sri vectra 1.8vvt

    Can't imagine a pulley costing that much shop around on eBay etc

    not sure mate never changed one on the vvti on the other hand when ya comein to get ya springs on

    Hi there, have you got less power too? I think it could be the vvt bit, the phase of the valves is controlled by what my dealer called cam phasers. These work off oil pressure they have filters that get blocked. The dealer removed the filters on mine, and it fine now.
    It sounded like it was knocking badely on the top end, and there was a loss of power I noticed it going to work, when I was having to change down uphill to hold 70.

    mattc that is exactly what has happened to mine less power and real bad knocking from the top

    It is possible it'll cost that much as I bet it's a dealer only part.
    As above I heard of filters being removed an it being fine after.

    i wouldnt know where to start with the filter mate what was told was cos of my oil leak the pulley was starved of oil and has siezed hence the banging

    My mate changed a 1.8 engine in a vectra he had a few weeks ago as it threw a piston. I've just text him to see if it was vvti as you could maybe use that one and save some cash.

    Not done them before but can't see it being to bad so if ya need a hand one night let me know.
